Columbus North
International School
Columbus International opened with 170 ninth graders in 2010. Today, it is a full 7th-12th grade school with around 800 students from over 65 different middle schools.

Columbus International is a public high school in the Columbus City Schools district, and admission is free and open to all Columbus residents. Admission is guaranteed for students coming from Fifth Avenue International School, Ecole Kenwood, and Columbus Spanish Immersion Academy. All other places are offered through the city-wide lottery.

We look forward to the opportunity to welcome your child and your family to our Columbus International community!

The Lottery Process

The lottery process for Columbus City Schools allows for students in all grade levels to apply for random selection into enrollment at any school in the district. Columbus North International School is a pure lottery school, which means that students may only enroll through the lottery process, with the exception of students who have attended one of International’s three feeder schools: École Kenwood, Columbus Spanish Immersion Academy, and Hubbard Mastery School (formerly Fifth Avenue International School).

To apply for the lottery, you can download the 2017-18 lottery application (beginning in December 2016), or visit the Office of School Choice now located at the new Central Enrollment on the Ft. Hayes Campus in downtown Columbus (430 Cleveland Ave). You can reach the Office of School Choice at 614.365.7459 or on the Office of School Choice website. Applications may be returned directly to the Office of School Choice, to your middle school counselor, or to us here at the school. Our staff at Columbus International are available to help you fill out the lottery application if you need help.

The lottery is usually open in January for high school students and in February for middle school students. Families who miss the lottery deadline may call Columbus North International School directly (614.365.4054) or email Principal Kenny Lee (cihs.principal@gmail.com) to inquire about possibility for enrollment, pending availability.

Inter-District Enrollment

Families who live outside of Columbus City Schools district may still apply for admission to Columbus North International School through the district’s Inter-District Enrollment agreement with neighboring Central Ohio school districts. To see if you live in a district for which this is a possibility, call the Columbus City Schools’ Office of School Choice at 614.365.7459. You can also download the inter-district enrollment application here

Transportation

Like all high school students in Columbus City Schools, students at Columbus International who live outside of walking distance are assigned bus routes that pick up at city-wide bus stops (normally the closest open school building to your home).

Columbus North International School is located conveniently on the #2, #4, and #81 COTA bus routes, and is easily accessible via I-71 and the Hudson St. exit or Rte. 315 and the North Broadway exit.

Students who wish to drive to school must seek permission, based on a limited number of parking spaces and good academic standing.
